What do you love most about your job and about the company?
I am very proud to be working for a company like Visottica Comotec that really believes in investing in research so that we are always working to come up with innovative high quality products all guaranteed to offer our clients great performance. Belonging to an international company like this one means that every day I can go through my ideas with our sales teams both in Italy and Hong Kong so we can all come up with new designs for our clients or work out other ways to develop our ideas. All of our products are fine-tuned by our expert engineers working both at Visottica in Italy and Comotec Dongguan in China, all of whom I have frequently met with in order to finalize each new development. In our joint ventures with Ookii and Matrix, and more recently with Eurodecori, Visottica Comotec has really made its mark as a dynamic and ambitious group, which at the same time, has managed never to lose touch with the company’s original values as a family business.
What is the most challenging project you have worked on? And how did it turn out?
I have worked with the R&D departments of many key players on innovative projects which have often been very hard to put into production. I have often crossed paths with inventors who made suggestions with innovative solutions, with people like Alain Miklitarian who is always full of inspirational ideas. One of the most exciting challenges is finding technical solutions to meet our clients’ specific product requirements, because for both product and process there are always ways we can find to make improvements.
What does collaboration look like in your office? Tell us about your team.
There is a team of young engineers, each with different backgrounds, from mechanical engineering to specialist research into materials. Their professional rigour is key in our highly innovative projects which require a blend of engineering design, problem-solving, patenting research and, last but not least, checking for conformity with international standards and safety norms. I am really proud of my team and their ability to adapt and react quickly to today’s ever-changing market priorities.
What are the most important features of Visottica Comotec products?
We can meet client needs offering either standard catalogue products or using our flexible technology to come up with customized designs. All of our products are developed in keeping with international norms and have passed rigorous tests to guarantee the highest level of quality thanks to expert production processes in the hands of our skilled workers in production teams at our manufacturing plants in both Italy and China.
What is the biggest challenge of the eyewear industry in the coming years?
There is an ever-growing awareness of the need for greater sustainably so that many of the major players on the market are actively working to address these issues, as are many in the fashion world. We need to work on creating more and more sustainable circular products and processes to reduce the impact of our “carbon footprint“, and our group has been active working on this, both in the short term, to meet customer demand, and in the long term as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility policy with an ethical duty to safeguard the planet for future generations.
